Annotated Bibliography

Should the United States make bachelor’s degrees at public universities tuition-free for all first-time students?
Your annotated bibliography needs to have five entries. At the top of each entry, you should include an MLA citation for your source. For help with MLA citation, look here (Links to an external site.). Each entry needs two paragraphs. The first paragraphs should summarize the source in a way that is relevant to your paper. The second should be a critical response that does one of three things:

Analyzes the rhetorical strengths and weaknesses of the source
Provides a comparison and/or contrast between your source and at least one other source in the annotated bibliography
Thinks about how you might incorporate this piece of research into your paper (either as a supporting example OR as an alternative point of view)

You should use each of these options in at least one entry!
In the annotated bibliography video that I am sharing on Canvas, I mentioned the importance of reputable sources. I also mentioned that two of your sources will need to be peer reviewed. For the sake of this assignment, I will consider anything from an academic journal or an academic book as peer reviewed. You can find academic books in EBOOKS ON EBSCO or EBOOKS CENTRAL. If you find a book that sounds useful, don’t feel the need to read the whole book. What I sometimes do? Read the table of contents, introduction, and any chapter that seems relevant to my paper. You can find academic journal articles via EBSCO ACADEMIC SEARCH. All of these resources are available online here: https://www.cloviscollege.edu/student-services/library/articles-research-databases.html (Links to an external site.).
Other reliable sources include articles from well-established newspapers and magazines. National newspapers like the New York Times, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, etc. are reputable. Most city newspapers, like the San Francisco Chronicle, or LA Times, are also reputable. If you’d like access to an article behind a paywall, you can either contact me (I have a subscription to the NYT, Washington Post, LA Times, and SF Chronicle) or contact the Clovis library to see if they can help you get access.
I will be grading your annotated bibliographies as follows:
A: This annotated bibliography exceeds expectations. The articles are well-chosen from reputable sources, including at least two peer reviewed/academic sources. Each of five entry contains two paragraphs. All paragraphs are at least 6 sentences long, are free of grammatical error, and are very well written. The first paragraph of each entry contains a summary of the source that is concise and useful for research. The second paragraph meets one of the three models explained in the lecture video. Its critical engagement exceeds expectations by being strong and rhetorically minded and by thinking forward to the research paper. All “paragraph 2 models” are used at least once.
B: This annotated bibliography meets expectations. The articles are well-chosen from reputable sources, including at least two peer reviewed/academic sources. Each of five entry contains two paragraphs. All paragraphs are at least 5 sentences long, and grammar and phrasing do not contain errors that prevent a reader from understanding meaning. The first paragraph of each entry contains a summary of the source that is concise and useful for research. The second paragraph meets one of the three models explained in the lecture video. All “paragraph 2 models” are used at least once.
C: This annotated bibliography mostly meets expectations, but it might contain significant phrasing and grammatical errors. Paragraphs might be shorter than 5 sentences. Not all of the paragraph 2 models are necessarily used once, or the structure required by the assignment is not fully followed.
D: This annotated bibliography fails to meet one or more of the expectations of the assignment.
