For this Discussion, you will post at least three times – 1) an initial post, and then 2) two replies to two classmates who posted answers to different questions. You must post first before you will see the postings of your classmates.Refer to the Discussion Grading and Criteria for guidance about posting to Discussions.1) Initial PostPlease choose one of the following questions, and post your response of a minimum of 150 words. Be sure that your comments are original, thoughtful, and well developed. This discussion will be open for the whole course, so check back frequently:1) Consider a modern way of looking at Feudalism and then post a comparison of that social system to the hierarchy of a modern corporation. A good way to look at this topic would be to compare the Feudal system versus a fast food company (still existing or one that may be closed by now). Please try to use an existing corporation or company and avoid just discussing a general example of any kind of company. Is Feudalism still alive because of this comparison? What does that mean for the bottom level of workers?Or2) Do you think the aspect of Courtly Love still exists in our popular culture today (media, movies, television shows, songs, etc.)? If so, please support your response with an example from the Medieval period (textbook or outside source) and if yes, provide an example from our modern world where you think this applies. If you feel it does not exist, please provide 2 examples from the Medieval period that show it is not in our modern world. NOTE: You must research and cite a source BEYOND your eText.Or3) Go to Physics of Stone Arches (or if it does not open see this video showing this exercise- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NcDJ_ApVTh4) and see if you can construct an arch for a Medieval Cathedral without it collapsing. Share with the class what you discovered through this exercise. What worked? What didn’t? Can you suggest ways to improve on the design? Discuss.2) Reply PostsRead the posts of your classmates, and respond to two different students who posted answers to different questions. Each of your replies should be a minimum of 50 words. In your replies, you should do at least one of the following:Extend or add to his/her point(s); orDisagree (with reasoning and evidence); orAdd to understanding of the case.(Learning Objectives Assessed: 1b, 2a, 2b, 4a, 4b)Discussion Grading and CriteriaIn preparing Discussion Board assignments for each module, students will be required to write a post to a topic of a minimum 150 words and then 2 separate replies to 2 other students of a minimum of 50 words for each reply. The post will be worth 60% of the assignment, and each reply is worth 20% of the assignment. For example, missing one reply will result in an automatic deduction of 20%. The following are how these items will be graded:The Discussion Post:1) A good discussion post answers the full question in a direct and specific manner which has been proofread for proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation.2) The minimum for the Discussion post is 150 words and this does not include title, name, or references. Short posts will be deducted the percentage of how short it is.3) Get to the point quickly and specifically. Posts that have too many general statements could be penalized 10-15%.4) If a post is missing any key aspects of the question prompt, like a specific example or a specific answer to a direct question, there may be up to a 10% deduction for each key aspect missed.5) When prompted to find another source besides the text, posts must include proper citation of the source. For websites, please include the link to the exact page the information came from so that your fellow students can find your source easily.6) The use of Wikipedia or other online encyclopedia, will result in a 10% deduction.7) Plagiarism, or directly copying the wording from a source and trying to pass it off as your own words (cited or not), is not acceptable and will result in a zero on any assignment and a report of the incident to the administration. Continued instances of plagiarism could result in failing the course, being removed from the course, or possibly being dismissed from the institution. Each Reply:1) A good reply to a post will extend the ideas of the original post, politely disagree with post, or add more points/examples to the post further supporting the original idea.2) The minimum for each reply is 50 words. Short replies will be deducted the percentage of how short it is.3) Replies that only compliment and reword someone else’s post will be penalized 10%.
